Underground Mining Spec 5 - Extra Heavy Duty

Beam Underground Mining Spec 5 is a comprehensive rust treatment designed to combat corrosion in harsh conditions where the standard mining specification is inadequate. Spec 5 includes additional high risk areas such as the exhaust system and the electrical and hydraulic fittings / connections. This level of rust protection is suitable for vehicles engaged in underground mining and would be the minimum requirement for those used in salt and fertiliser works and coastal shipping facilities.
 
Below is a guide to a typical Application. ( Note: This may vary depending upon vehicle type )

Application Guide:

Beam ML602 upper body rust treatmentt which is a highly advanced heavy duty corrosion inhibitive wax is applied to:
  • Inside Door cavities, Pillars, Rocker Panels and Box Sections.
  • Behind headlight and grille areas
  • Inside Bonnet & Boot lid stiffeners, tailgate areas.
  • Inside Chassis rails
  • Inside Plenum Chamber.

Bituminous Black Underbody Product UB302B is typically spray applied to:
  • The complete under body and chassis
  • Lower cavities of the front and rear guards.
  • Wheel arches, fuel, air and hydraulic tanks
  • Engine Sump, Transfer casing, Drive Line,Axles and differentials.
  • Suspension components, brake housings and steering arms.
  • Fixing points for tow bars, bull bars and side steps.
  • Internal Foot wells and floor.

Ultratect “DURON" 2K Teflon/Polyurethane Chemical & Corrosion Resistant Clearcoat is typically spray applied to:
  • Underside of bonnet
  • Painted areas of the engine compartment.
  • Alloy engine components.
Beam Metal Fix 1000 Product which is a high temperature rust resistant etch primer is applied to:
  • Entire Exhaust System
Denso Tape corrosion resistant wax tape is hand wrapped around the following components.
  • Front suspension rod threads, bolts, tie rods ends and top shock absorber threads.
  • Brake adjusters, line fittings, pivots.
  • All accessible hydraulic fittings and joins.
  • All external electrical wiring connections.
The vehicle is then finished by replacing all parts that were removed prior to the vehicle being protected. All drain holes are checked to ensure they are free from any residual rustproofing product. The vehicle is then cleaned off using a mild solvent to ensure that there is no over-spray on the body, trim, windows or any other exterior parts.
 

Recommended Additional Treatments

  • Ultratect “DUCOR" is a High Build 2K epoxy mastic for coating chassis and under body areas. Beam highly recommends this coating as an upgrade replacement for the traditional Bituminous Based under body coating used in this specification. See Ultratect Underground Mining Spec 8
  • Some or all of the exterior painted surfaces can be coated with our  Ultratect "DURON" 2K Teflon/Polyurethane Clearcoat to provide long-term protection against attack by water, acids and most chemicals. This product is ideal for Roofs, Gutters, doors, Bonnets, Side steps, Bull bars in fact its applications are almost unlimited. Ultratect "DURON" is UV stable (will not go yellow) and will not significantly change the appearance of the substrate. It can also be removed or repaired easily at any time if required. See Salt and Offshore Spec 6
  • Rhino Lining Polyurethane spray-on tray and surface coating -  Ideal for load areas and to encapsulate and permanently protect high wear areas such as bull bars, side steps, internal floor pans etc... Can be sprayed on up to 6mm thick, is impact and slip resistant, Prevents Rust and Corrosion, is waterproof and chemical resistant.
